EVERFI Preventing Harassment and Discrimination
Preventing Harassment and Discrimination is a workplace training course that allows work to remain a safe space for everyone. Taking the course ensures that employees will utilize awareness, attitude, and action when recognizing and putting a stop to harassment and discrimination in the workplace.
This new version of the course was also the first time EVERFI used in-house animation for long-form motion graphics. I created a test version of in-house motion graphics prior to this course, so I was lucky enough to lead this new approach.
The voices in these motion graphics were generated with Murf.ai, and while I am anti-AI and would have vastly preferred a real voice actor, I was told it was not in EVERFI's budget for this project. The animation in this video is entirely my work with no AI used.
I began with a storyboard for the first animation, and left the characters blank, as they had not been assigned and needed to have enough variation to comply with DEI standards.
I scheduled several meetings with the animation team to receive critique on these animatics, and we went through two more variations before we got the final version, which now included final character designs, and an intro with the three placeholder icons for Awareness, Attitude, and Action.
There were also several new icon iterations that the illustrators prepared for me, and I decided to see what each one looked like baked into a lower resolution version of the intro I was planning for PHD1.
While I used the illustration team's characters as reference for my storyboards, they were also using my storyboards as reference for their background design, and they created this office hallway for the intro.
I animated the walk cycle via fairly simple After Effects rigging, and for the head's subtle turns I used a plugin called Joysticks and Sliders.
